January: New Year’s Day; Parades, parties, and religious observances mark the beginning of the year. September: Mexican Independence Celebration; Fireworks, folk dancing and mariachi bands on the eve of Mexican Independence Day are followed on the 16th by parades, speeches, family picnics and more.
